Court Reporting and Minute-Taking
Having acquired specialist court reporting company CAT Reporting in 2008, Pacific Solutions now provides stenographers and court reporters to numerous courts and tribunals.
Our team of court reporters is highly experienced and all are members of the SRAA.
Stenography / Court Reporting:
Stenographers, or court reporters, are available for depositions, court hearings, official enquiries, board meetings and more. It is advisable for a stenographer to attend when recording is difficult and speaker identification critical.
Pacific Solutions can also provide real-time stenographers.
Pre-recorded hearings
Pacific Solutions transcribes pre-recorded hearings, tribunals or meetings, recorded on tapes, CDs and all digital formats including FTR.
Examples of courts and tribunals we transcribe for law firms:
- VCAT
- NSW, QLD and ACT Tribunals
- HREOC
- Refugee Review Tribunal
Minute-Taking
Businesses, firms and associations often require a record of their meetings and events, and frequently choose to outsource this responsibility to an experienced professional.
Pacific Solutions is able to attend meetings and events for the purpose of recording minutes.
What is a minute-taker?
A minute-taker attends in person to provide a brief and accurate summary of the meeting, including:
- what was discussed,
- what was agreed,
- what action is to be taken, by whom and by when.
A separate list of action point/actionable items can be included where clients require this.
As a guideline, for each hour of meeting, approximately 2 to 3 pages of minutes would be produced. Therefore, minutes do not provide a verbatim record of a meeting, but rather an overview of key discussions and outcomes. Where a word-for-word transcript is needed, a court reporter (stenographer) will be required.
Pacific Solutions will endeavour to produce minutes that adhere to your formatting and layout requirements. In order to achieve this aim, it is helpful if you provide us with an agenda and a copy of previous minutes (in Word format) prior to your meeting.
